These low noise and ultra-low noise level fluxgate sensors are specifically designed to meet the exacting environmental requirements of aerospace applications.
The Mag628 and Mag669 have a two-part construction, consisting of a sensor head assembly and an unpackaged electronics board that can be integrated into existing systems to save space and weight, whilst the Mag629 provides a packaged electronics module.
With a full-scale range of ±75µT and very low noise characteristics, these sensor are ideally suited to applications such as vector compensation in airborne magnetometry.
The three sensor axes are arranged to have a common point of intersection (concurrent), clearly defining the centre of measurement of the magnetic field being examined. The sensing head has an integral cable.

Applications
- Magnetic Anomaly Detection (MAD)
- Navigation
- Vector compensation in airborne magnetometry
The Mag669 are used in CAE’s Magnetic Anomaly Detection AIMS (AN/ASQ 508A) and MAD-XR systems respectively. These have been included in a range of platforms including P-3C and P-8I.
The MAD-XR system, including the Mag669, allows for deployment from unmanned platforms or helicopters.
Features
- Designed to military standards (for vibration, shock and thermal shock) for integration into airborne platforms
- Low noise (down to < 4pTrms/√Hz at 1Hz) for increased accuracy and noise reduction in the MAD system
- A low measuring range allows for a higher sensitivity on the analogue output
- Extended operational temperature range making it suitable for use in a wide range of environments
- Concurrent sensing axes
