MRI / Electron Beam
Magnetic Resonance Imaging relies upon the excitation and detection of resonances at radio frequencies of atomic nuclei within the cells of the human body. For optimum image quality this is performed in a very strong magnetic field which must be maintained to a very stable value throughout the scanning period. External magnetic disturbances due for example to the movement of vehicles, electric traction and electric power lines can significantly degrade the image quality.
The Mag-03 range of sensors are used in active shielding and compensation systems which greatly reduce this degradation. The sensors can be supplied in versions which produce very low levels of electromagnetic radiation and therefore can be within the MRI suite without interfering with the scanning operation.
Electron Beam technology is used in electron microscopy and electron beam lithography. The correct focusing and trajectory of the beam can be disturbed by extraneous magnetic fields. Active shielding is recommended to solve this problem and standard Mag-03 sensors are the ideal choice for monitoring the disturbances.
All of the systems mentioned above are not only susceptible to magnetic disturbances but also to vibration and acoustic interference. The choice of siting for the installation is therefore important if these problems are to be avoided.
Spectramag-6 is a compact multichannel spectrum analyser which has been specially developed to assist in site evaluation and post installation site monitoring. The Mag-03 range of sensors will operate up to 10mT (100Gauss) which is beyond the "5 Gauss line" for operational MRI systems.
