For Innovation in Magnetic Measuring Instruments
Bartington Instruments is a world leader in the design and manufacture of magnetic measurement instrumentation.
Single Axis Fluxgate Magnetometers
Single-axis magnetometers measure the strength of a magnetic field in a single vector direction. They are therefore ideal for measuring the strength of a magnetic field in a specific direction. They are also suitable for checking remnant magnetic fields of magnetised or demagnetised components. Our range comprises a variety of single-axis magnetometers including discrete sensors with analog outputs, portable magnetometers with integral displays and systems with theodolite-mounted sensors for measuring declination and inclination at magnetic observatories.
Three-Axis Fluxgate Magnetometers
Three-axis magnetometers are more versatile, and hence more popular, than the single-axis versions.
Essentially consisting of three single-axis sensors, in an orthogonal configuration, they measure magnetic field strength in the x,y and z directions. This allows the total magnitude and direction of a magnetic field to be determined. These devices are widely used in physics, geophysics, electromagnetics, aerospace and defence. The typical measurement range is up to 1mT (10G)
Magnetic and Vibration Spectrum Analyser
A six-channel 24-bit data acquisition system and spectrum analyser for up to two triaxial sensors with simultaneous sampling, USB interface and a bandwidth from DC to 2.5kHz. Designed for site survey and environmental monitoring.
Fluxgate D/I Magnetometer
The Mag-01H fluxgate D/I magnetometer is used by magnetic observatories and mapping agencies to measure the variation in the declination and inclination of the earth's magnetic field. The fluxgate magnetometer probe is mounted on a suitable non-magnetic theodolite.
Magnetic Gradiometers
Single axis magnetic gradiometers are available with a baseline of 1m for land use. A three-axis magnetic gradiometer with a 500mm baseline is available for marine use. Applications include geophysical surveys for archaeological prospection and UXO location.
Fluxgate Magnetometer Measurement Range
A fluxgate magnetometer is suitable for measurements from zero up to 2mT(20 Gauss) and can have a resolution of better than 1nT(10 microgauss) with a noise of a few pT.
Magnetic Susceptibility System
The MS2 Magnetic Susceptibility System is used for mineralogical studies of rocks, soils and sediments in environmental research. These measurements are diagnostic of specific processes such as burning or soil waterlogging. Magnetic minerals can be identified using the MS2 Susceptibility/Temperature equipment, through determination of Curie points and low temperature transitions. A borehole magnetic susceptibility tool is available for operation to a depth of 6,000m.
