Exploration

Bartington's wide range of magnetic field measuring intrumentation is used in many applications in oil and mineral exploration.

Mag-03 Three-Axis Magnetic Field Sensors are used in Magnetotelluretics to determine either the location of ore bodies or the shape of potential oil traps.

In Time Domain Electromagnetics or Controlled Source Electromagnetics, low noise Mag-03 Sensors can be supplied in a wide range of enclosures suitable for both surface and borehole use.

In mineral exploration, the BSS-02B Sonde is used for the discrimination of kimberlites and iron and uranium ore bodies.

The Magnetic Susceptibility System is used for stratigraphical work on cores, providing additional information for petrophysical studies.

To improve the efficiency of directional drilling programmes on land, the Mag-01H Declinometer/Inclinometer System is used to measure the declination and inclination of the geomagnetic field before drilling commences. With marine directional drilling, Mag-03 Magnetic Field Sensors are selected to perform the measurement of declination and inclination at sea.
